Environmental Policy for Ablemen Protection Services Ltd

Ablemen Protection Services Ltd recognizes the significant threats posed by global climate change and the increasing demands on our natural environment. We understand the essential role we play in reducing the release of harmful greenhouse gases and in actively protecting the environment. Our commitment is to comply with all applicable environmental and energy-related legislation in Canada while minimizing harm to the environment wherever possible. We will strive to meet best practices, even in areas that are not yet regulated, integrating climate change, resource use, and biodiversity considerations into our operations and relationships with customers, communities, and partners.

Organisation

The Director holds the responsibility for environmental and energy management within Ablemen Protection Services Ltd. On the operational level, the Director, along with section managers, ensures compliance with the company’s environmental and energy principles and works towards achieving the company’s environmental objectives. The Operations Manager coordinates the activities that support the company in achieving its environmental goals and reports on its progress.

Compliance with Environmental and Energy Legislation and Best Practice

We are committed to complying with all relevant environmental and energy legislation in every aspect of our operations in Canada. We will strive to meet best practices, even in non-regulated areas.

Energy Efficiency and Climate Change

When delivering services and procuring products, Ablemen Protection Services Ltd aims to meet the current and future needs of our customers with an appropriate focus on energy efficiency. We seek to minimize greenhouse gas emissions while aligning with our company’s objectives and the targets set by Canadian environmental regulations and policies.

In the premises we manage, we will work to reduce energy consumption to the lowest practical levels, balancing operational needs and customer requirements. We will also aim to minimize the impacts of extreme weather events on the properties and communities for which we are responsible.

Enhancement and Minimisation of Harm to the Environment

We are committed to minimizing any potential environmental harm caused by our activities. Where possible, we will identify opportunities to enhance the environment by promoting good practices and collaborating with local communities, NGOs, and partners.

We aim to:

  • Prevent pollution, reduce waste, and implement measures to protect natural habitats, flora, and fauna wherever feasible.
  • Consider the effects of our operations on local communities.
  • Act to eliminate or reduce any potentially adverse environmental impacts.
  • Promote environmental awareness among suppliers, contractors, and partners through operational procedures.
  • Foster partnerships within communities by acting in a socially responsible manner.
  • Ensure effective incident control, investigation, and reporting.

In addition, we will implement security measures such as preventing vandalism, unauthorized entry, tampering, or malicious damage to property, plant, and equipment. This includes secure fencing, locked sites when unmanned, and secured plant and equipment out of hours.

Environmental and Energy Management System

We will establish and resource a formal Environmental and Energy Management System (EEnMS) across our operations to manage environmental impacts effectively.

Minimising Pollution and Contamination

We are committed to managing our operations in a way that minimizes the risk of pollution and contamination.

Environmental and Energy Objectives, Commitments, and Targets

We will identify clear environmental and energy objectives, and associated commitments and targets, to help us achieve our environmental goals. We will allocate the necessary resources to meet these targets.

Monitoring Performance

We will regularly monitor our environmental performance, using key metrics and performance indicators to evaluate our progress toward achieving our objectives and targets.

Effective Communication

We are committed to clear and effective communication both internally and externally regarding all environmental and energy-related issues. We believe this will contribute to a culture of environmental awareness across the company.

Continuous Improvement

We are committed to the continuous improvement of our Environmental and Energy Management System (EEnMS) through ongoing collaboration with customers, communities, and partners. This will ensure we are always evolving and improving our environmental impact.

Management Responsibility

Management and supervisory staff are responsible for implementing this policy and ensuring that environmental concerns are considered during the planning and execution of all work. The Directors have overall responsibility for all environmental matters. We will regularly review and monitor the implementation of this policy to ensure it remains relevant and effective. This policy has been endorsed by the Directors, which fully supports its implementation.
